i donno if you guys experience this, whenever i took SIA, there will always be 30 min-2 hr of delays. i guess they don't do preparation work well.

For a time, I traveled by both airlines quite often. SIA offers more by way of entertainment (individual TV screens) and comfort (seats have slightly more legroom). The planes are also newer and I think quieter. On the route I was traveling, SIA was about 15% more costly.

For that last reason alone, I often went for PAL.

I am fortunate not to have to test the pilots' mettle in emergencies. I am reasonably sure that both PAL and SIA pilots would have been as competent and as courageous in handling them. The pilots of most major airlines are trained comprehensively to handle a range of emergencies. A big part of that training has to do not just with what to do in an emergency but how to control their emotional response.

When an emergency happens, the pilots' training will take over from their instincts. Not every disaster is survivable of course but it is not necessarily because of pilots' lack of guts or ability.
