Community Security Sprit that SG lost, must bring this back!

This news in Taiwan reminded me of our original Singaporean communal spirit of mutual assistance and vigilance. In our Kampung era, where everyone within village know each other, when anybody needs help everyone will turn up. When there is a thief or robber, whole village will come after. No way to escape!

These day's FT, even the next door lives only strangers or foreigners.:oIo:
We lost the good spirit...:( Today's SG is you die your business.

This news from Taiwan said, a jobless man robbed a woman's purse as he plotted that it would be easier for him to get away scoot free during the rains, he was completely surprised when 30+ peasants from everywhere turned up fast with steel pipes umbrellas broom sticks etc to intercept him - he ran for over 100m and gave up. Sat there to surrender begging the peasants not to bash him up. And told that he did it because he had been jobless.

Apparently he was only arrested and not beaten up.


Bad economy leads to bad security.

SG needs to bring back this lost spirit which we once had.

雨衣盜搶婦 路人掃把鐵棍圍捕

<table class="left" cellspacing="0"> <tbody><tr><td><label></label></td></tr> </tbody></table>台灣社會其實還是不冷漠的，台中大里區一名婦人，夜晚被搶匪搶走皮包，婦人大喊搶劫，沒想到一下子附近將近30名民眾奮不顧身拿起掃把、鐵棍加入圍捕，大夥兒追了將近百公尺，將嫌犯團團圍住，歹徒還苦苦哀求，不要打他。
跑了百公尺，林姓嫌犯氣力放盡，跌坐在地上，當時連婆婆媽媽都加入追捕的行列，眾人圍捕，嫌犯當場嚇傻，見義勇為的民眾說，當時因為聽到有婦人大喊搶劫，大夥隨手拿起手邊的工具就往外衝。
林姓嫌犯供稱是因為沒工作才會行搶，只是他原本計畫趁下雨行搶比較容易成功，卻沒想到半路殺出這麼多見義勇為的民眾，真的是賊星該敗。(民視新聞林尚賢、賴政坤台中報導)
