All proportional representation schemes involve a "party vote" principle. Many Western democracies operate along these lines. There are numerous variants but all are based upon casting a vote for a "party team" instead of an "individual".
In Singapore, a GRC is equivalent to a party list. You decide which party best serves your interests, take into consideration the team that has been assembled, and vote accordingly.
