It has been said that God works in mysterious ways. Well looks like God is not the only one. The Commissioner of Charities also seems to have taken the divine route of working in mysterious ways.
In June 2012, Kong Hee, Sun and a couple of Church officials were suspended. The main allegation was quite straightforward. Funds were illegally diverted to fund Sun's career. She was the only one to have benefitted from this. There appears to be no one else.
The Police did not charge her as she was not the one involved at least in the diversion and they probably had no evidence that she was part of the conspiracy. Sometimes it is a question of tactics to secure convictions around cases and individuals that are much stronger.
Then the Commissioner rules that she is cleared. Interestingly she is now taking on an executive director role which she previously relinquished. One wonders what went thru the Commissioner's mind. Is it in the public's interest to allow her to be engaged in any activities involving charities. I have no issues if she is carries on with the church but the concern is that the single and only beneficiary of an alleged $24million crime that involved donations is now taking charge of the hen house.
Why the hurry on the part of the Commissioner? Is there a possibility that if convictions are secured, she would be subject to actions arising from proceeds of crime.
It is something that the Commissioner needs to explain more clearly. The prostitute press really need to get working on this.
