SINGAPORE: Eighty suspected drug abusers and seven suspected drug traffickers were arrested in a four-day islandwide anti-drug operation which ended on Friday.

The Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) said the raid, which started on September 12, was targeted at street level demand and supply of drugs.

Drugs worth approximately S$36,400 were also seized.

This included approximately 206 grammes of heroin, 11 grammes of 'Ice', 264 Erimin-5 tablets and other drugs such as 'ecstasy'.

A 44-year-old male Singaporean was among the seven suspected drug traffickers arrested.

Following his arrest on September 13 at Jalan Bukit Merah, officers searched his car and recovered 20 packets of heroin weighing approximately 156 grammes.

CNB director Mr Ng Boon Gay said: "This is a strong signal to drug abusers and pushers that we have zero tolerance towards drug abuse and CNB will not let up in our efforts to keep Singapore safe from drugs."
