This is for the privilege of being able to partake in the world famous Hawker culture which is part of Unesco Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Seating some more is reserved to 2 a table so you less likely to get covid . You also have the privilege of queuing up for hours for your food and drinks in this hot and humid weather and sweat it out without having to pay to go to a gym. There is also the fun part about walking around in circles looking for an empty seats/tables and running fast enough to get to the table first without spilling your food and drinks.

If you do not like the above privilege, can always go to air cond restaurants and squeeze 5 into a table and have all these nosey staff pry about your vaccination status. Also no chance to watch the cooks prepare your food right in front of you while you are queuing up to improve your blood circulation
