Is Buddhism a religion?
Albert Einstein once said this of Buddhism, "The religion of the future will be a cosmic religion. It should transcend a personal God and avoid dogmas and theology. Covering both natural and spiritual, it should be based on a religious sense arising from the experience of all things, natural and spiritual and a meaningful unity. Buddhism answers this description. If there is any religion that would cope with modern scientific needs, it would be Buddhism."
But is Buddhism a religion? Buddhism may qualify as a religion, depending on ones point of view. If you define religion as "a system of worship or devotion to a deity," than no, it would not be a religion; however, if you define religion as "a system of spiritual beliefs, rituals, and morals," then Buddhism would be a religion.

There is no messiah, no prophet, and no deity in Buddhism. The basic premise of Buddhism is about a prince who lived a hedonistic life, then became enlightened and decided to live an ascetic life.

Since there is no deity, messiah or prophet in Buddhism, you can be a Christian and a Buddhist, Muslim and Buddhist or Jew and Buddhist. And there would be no conflict.


Some facts about Buddhism:

--Buddhism is about 550 years older than Christianity and 1,100 older than Islam.

--It's often registered with governments as a religion for tax purposes because most religious institutions pay little or no taxes.

--Many who practice Buddhism consider it a philosophy or ideology, dealing with the spiritual aspects of life. Some psychologists consider Buddhism a form of psychology.

-- Enlightenment, meditation, karma, nirvana are often associated with Buddhism.

--Most Buddhists are vegetarians or vegans

--The Eight Fold Path and Four Noble Truths are the "commandments" of Buddhism.

The word "Buddha" is often mistaken as a deity in Buddhism. A Buddha simply means one who has become enlightened. Anyone can become a Buddha once they are enlightened by studying and applying The Eight Fold Path and Four Noble Truths.
Famous Buddhists include:
--Steve Jobs, co-founder and Chairman of Apple Computers.

--Phil Jackson, record holder of most championships as a coach in any sport. He's coach of the LA Lakers.

--Of course the Dalai Lama is a Buddhist.

--Celebrity Buddhists: Richard Gere, Tiger Woods, Kate Bostworth, Steven Seagal, Leonard Cohen, Tina Turner, Orlando Bloom, Keanu Reeves, Oliver Stone, Uma Thurman, George Lucas, Mark Wahlberg, Jennifer Lopez...The list is very long.

Been to Christian group.Insulted by some of them when question them on how they define god as and they insult me just believe as told why ask so many question... , nasty remarks from some of them on other religion as praying to wooden god.... as if they are very very correct!!!!

Who Need A Lousy Coffee !

There is a dangerous confusion in Christianity and in the way it presents itself. This is extremely unfortunate because many aspects of Christanity are sound, deep, important, meaningful. However, Christianity lost its roots around 300 A.D. when it started to make arbitrary decisions which became dogma soon thereafter. The purpose of these decisions was to consolidate power.

The perception for Christianity to lose its root is NOT accurate here.

The TRUE Christian Faith ... okay, I hate to use the word TRUE because its like saying there's REAL coffee and there is a decaffeinated one ? Who wanna drink a coffee that is decaffeinated in the early morning ? Church should be spiritual, not non-spiritual. If it isn't spiritual, then it is no more a church. There's no such thing as non-spiritual churches - they are all bullshitting because they don't know.

However, the so-called true churches do not exist for a long time. Like submarines, they will naturally disappear for some time until another surfacing (in different time, different space). I will not tell you more on this.

When men is concerned, things can always go wayward. Men are greedy and power hungry. Being unchecked for a long time, a church can become a political tool eventually. This happened in ancient Israel, and its people and kings would have to pay for their crimes by foreign invasions. The same is happening to Europe and America now when they forsaken the Lord for capitalism, consumerism and atheism. I was the other spirit that was responsible for the 911 incident. Full story ? Boh eng ah. No mood.

Christianity could offer the same outcome. All it would have to do is permit critical reform in critical areas. It has to return the principle of "Christ" to the people, the individual, the natural aspirant who we already know from Proverbs are all children of the one, living creator. The reality of Christ is the ultimate reality - a reality it shares with that of Buddha, the Atman of Hinduism, the One Heart of the Hopi People, etc.

How to reform ? No God, no reform. Simple as that. They are ALL on their own devices. I can hardly give a damn.

It seems to me that Buddhism has greater insight into the problem of sin and evil and teaches how to transform both. Christianity is too harsh, too violent in its approach to the overcoming and transformation of "Lucifer" or the Egyptian "Seth". In this sense I find it much less profound both philosophically and psychologically than Buddhism.

When I was very young in the Lord, Conqueror asked God about Buddhism. He said it was a way of falsehood. So, quite consistent ... you want salvation, you have to go through Jesus the Christ no matter how you dislike it. That's the truth. The hard truth. You have to choose.

This lacks depth. It lacks understanding. It lacks compassion. And it lacks the method for teaching compassion, not that compassion is easy to learn in any religion.

People continue to eat chicken, cattle, ... compassion ? Bacteria and viruses can kill you if you don't kill them first. Being emo is the first step to foolishness. Be wise lah.

A law is a law. Take it out, you will see monkeys' biz day in and day out. Compassion can be ... 别让感情泛滥成灾。If they want to be with God, keep the law.

And I repeat, the way the mysterious crucifixion has been handled has only served to drive a painful wedge between Jews and Christians - another unfortunate leftover from two thousand years ago.

One, that's a reality that the Jews killed Jesus, the Son of God on the cross. Two, the Christians are no better too. So, those who claim they are good and without any sin can cast the first stone. They need a prophet like me. But, will they listen ?

A Christian student group at the National University of Singapore (NUS) apologized on Thursday for making insensitive remarks about Buddhists and Muslims.

The NUS Campus Crusade for Christ, made up of 80 to 100 students, posted an apology on its Facebook page for remarks made on its Web site and on posters it put up on campus benches on Wednesday.

The university also apologized.

Singapore’s Ministry of Home Affairs, which is investigating the incident, said that while people were free to propagate their religion, it should not be done by insulting or denigrating other religions.

The Christian group’s posters promoting a mission trip to Thailand said that the country, known as The Land of Smiles, was actually “a place of little true joy.”

This, it said, was because Buddhism was so much a part of the Thai national identity and few believed in Jesus Christ. It urged students to help take Christianity to the Thais.

Its Web site promoted a mission trip to Turkey and said the country needed “much prayer and work” because “much of the population is M,” referring to Muslims.

The online posts and posters have since been removed, but not before copies spread quickly online, prompting a wave of angry comments from netizens.

Some told the Christian group’s members to stop imposing their beliefs on others, while others accused the group of making Christians look bad.

NUS student Miran Ng wrote on the group’s Facebook page: “Bigotry has no place in NUS, no place in Singapore.”

Leaders of the NUS group could not be contacted for comment but its Facebook post said it apologised for the distress caused....

They can be right or wrong on this. If you are not His sheep, they should not force on you. The sheep hears the voice of its own shepherd. But, asking too much cannot come to God. I come to God with simplicity in the ancient style of Jesus time. It's good to be simple. But, there's a GREAT chance that you may step into a fake one.

命中注定？ In some way, yes. As good as saying, we, 圣人 saints came from heaven before the creation of the world. Almost like ancient Chinese folklore and story that so and so stars came down to earth as saints.

20 years ago i was invited to chc by some friends. they asked for tithe which i wasn't comfortable committing a tithe to a church. at that time ah kong and ah sun were not as daring as now. when i didn't contribute my tithe, i was treated differently. people ard started to shun me. when i left the church, the friends became no friends. their teachings are really weird. if we don't contribute, we are called outcasts. if we leave the church, this ah kong said we will go to hell. ah kong also taught the members not to be friend people who are not chc members.

this chc teachings taught the young naive ignorant followers to love only ah kong and ah sun and nobody else. :oIo:

Then, time will come to unveil these crooks. Excommunication was also mentioned in the bible as leaving the sick man whose life is immoral to be destroyed by the Devil or Satan. Only the flesh be harmed that his soul be saved.

The true (I hate to use this word) church must be clean from any spot. The adulterers and fornicators are to be excommunicated for the sake of the church. The church cannot be tainted with a spot.

There's NO communication between the clean and the unclean as described in the Old Testament. The priests must judge according to their sickness whether it was a serious. These unclean people must be taken out till they are fully recovered and to be cleansed till SPIRITUALLY clean ! Then, these people can enter into their community once more.
