Caught in the act: The women being led out of the entertainment outlet after the raid in George Town.

GEORGE TOWN: A Chinese national broke down in tears when she was arrested for allegedly being involved in vice activities at an entertainment outlet in Burma Road.

The woman was heard crying “I don’t want to come here anymore” in Mandarin as she was led into a police truck during the raid, codenamed Ops Noda.

In the 10.30pm crackdown on Tuesday, police rounded up 23 foreign women, comprising 20 Chinese nationals, two Vietnamese and a Thai national. All of them, who were said to be working as guest relations officers, are in their 20s and 30s.

Police also nabbed the outlet’s caretaker while five customers and two workers also had their statements recorded.

George Town acting OCPD Supt Ismail Toh Paduka Idris said two of the women did not have their passports with them during the raid.

He said the case was being investigated under Section 55(B) of the Immigration Act for employing and harbouring illegals.

He said the women would also be investigated under Section 6(3) of the Immigration Act 1959/1963 (Amendment 2002) and Section 39(b) of the Immigration Regulations 1963.
