Chinese state media ultra-ultra low key report Dotard Trump Visit

There is actual NO SPECIAL REPORT 专题报道 on Trump's visit at all.

The only thing they showed was a SPECIAL REPORT on 习近平 himself, which included a very informal meeting with Trump at the ancient old palace. Not even an official govt formal meeting venue, no airport welcome red carpet photo nor review guard of honor PLA photo at all.

This is the most unusual! Obama Clinton Nixon etc any US presidents' visits got all the standard formalities. All but Dotard Trump.

The only 4 photos looked like Xi couple and Trump couple's visitation to ancient palace - touristy profile lacking all formality lacking any welcome any respect!

Not saying there is no red carpet.

Saying that the Chinese State Media PLAYED IT DOWN. Don't show the formal ceremonial photos / videos. Things had taken place but selectively not showing these things indicates / reflects an attitude! I am reading and interpreting this attitude.

Goto http://www.xinhuanet.com now and see.

THERE IS NOT EVEN A FORMAL XI-TRUMP HAND-SHAKE photo found!

ULTRA UNUSUAL in WORLD HISTORY!

The Chinese leg of US President Donald Trump’s grand Asian tour is expected to focus on North Korea and trade imbalances. But observers say a major agreement on rebalancing global power could be on the table as Beijing seeks respect for its growing clout.
During the two-night stay in Beijing, Trump will hold his third meeting with his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping, following the Mar-a-Lago visit by Xi in April and G20 talks in June. The two men are arguably meeting at a low and a high point of their respective political careers. Trump, with his administration besieged by allegations of Russia collusion, has an approval rating of just 36 percent – the worst for a US president in modern history. In contrast, Xi was last month elevated to a status akin to that of the PRC’s founding father, Mao Zedong, at a Communist Party congress which approved his second term as its leader.

Trump’s marathon Asian tour is one of the greatest exercises of his personal diplomacy since entering the Oval Office. His previous stops were in Japan and South Korea, and in both countries he rallied the US allies against the threat posed by North Korea, touting multibillion-dollar purchases of US-made military equipment as improving the national security of the buyers and helping fix their trade imbalances with America.

Both issues are prioritized in China as well. The Trump administration has stopped criticizing Beijing for a failure to put pressure on Pyongyang over its controversial drive to obtain nuclear-tipped intercontinental ballistic missiles, and has instead been praising China’s contribution. The accusations of alleged currency manipulation, restriction of market access and intellectual property theft by China have been subdued as well.

Observers expect Beijing to go on a charm offensive, wooing the attention-sensitive, ego-conscious American leader with what is described as an unprecedented “state visit-plus” by Chinese officials and the media. Beijing’s Forbidden City, the former seat of Chinese imperial power, was closed to the public to host the American dignitary.

Some China watchers say Xi will use the meeting to promote his vision of a global future, in which waning superpower America and rising force China agree to refrain from conflict and find a way for peaceful transition. Previous administrations rejected such overtures from Beijing, seeing them as an offer to split the world into Cold War-style zones of influence, with the US withdrawing from Asia.

One bone of contention could be the South China Sea. Beijing perceives the water mass, which is vital for its maritime trade and may become a major source of hydrocarbons in the future, as rightfully belonging to China. It has been backing the stance with large island reclamation projects, military deployments and other measures. The US has been opposing China while not supporting any other nation with a claim over any part of the sea. The US says the area should belong to no one, remaining legally open for America’s own military patrols. This is perceived as potentially dangerous for China’s strategic interests, which depend on unrestricted foreign trade.

The Trump administration has been sending signals that it will maintain an Asian presence, for instance, boosting the so-called freedom of navigation missions in the South China Sea, which are aimed at undermining China’s claims. Some members of the Trump camp have been strongly advocating opposing China on trade. The White House has recently announced its vision of a “free and open Indo-Pacific,” apparently sending a rallying cry for Australia and India to take a stand against rising Chinese clout.

On the other hand, Trump’s chief-of-staff, John Kelly, in a recent Fox News interview indicated that disagreements with China on trade didn’t “make them an enemy” and suggested that its one-party political system was not an issue for Washington. Trump’s own description of Xi as a “king” of China was perceived by some observers as outright flattery.

There is speculation that Trump may be tempted to “pull a Nixon” – strike a policy-changing bargain with Xi just like President Richard Nixon did with his historic 1972 visit to China – or in other words “explore win-win bilateral ties,” as the Chinese press would prefer to put it.

Trump once trashed China. Now, they're friends

Trump in China: What's at stake? 00:22
Story highlights
  • Trump was welcomed with open arms in Beijing
  • He hasn't followed through on his tough talk
Beijing (CNN)On the first anniversary of his election, President Donald Trump touched down in the country he had most maligned during the 2016 campaign.

And he was welcomed with open arms: Trump's reception in the Chinese capital on Wednesday was complete with Chinese schoolchildren on the tarmac waving US and Chinese flags and others later uttering "I love you" to the US President.
His arrival was filled with an unmistakable sense of irony. But it also underscored the geopolitical realities Trump has had to confront as President -- and the relief here that he has yet to enact many of the toughest measures he pledged at nearly every campaign trail rally.
"We can't continue to allow China to rape our country and that's what they're doing. It's the greatest theft in the history of the world," he said at a May 2016 rally.

All eyes on Trump during high-stakes China visit

But Trump hasn't imposed double-digit tariffs on Chinese imports. He seems to have entirely abandoned his plans to label China a currency manipulator. And he hasn't retaliated against Beijing's abusive trade practices with draconian measures of his own, as his campaign once foreboded.
Instead, Trump's administration is leaning much more heavily on dialogue with Chinese officials -- notably direct talks with his counterpart, President Xi Jinping -- than other more dramatic powers afforded to him by the presidency.
That relationship pressed forward as Trump arrived Wednesday for a reception Chinese officials are calling the beginning of a "state visit, plus" that included an elaborate series of theatrical performances -- timed to coincide with the sunset -- in the heart of Beijing's historic Forbidden City.
Trump was all smiles and laughter, exchanging pleasantries with Xi and laughing at bits of the performance. And during tea time, Trump and Xi bonded over video clips of Trump's granddaughter singing and reciting ancient poems in Chinese.
"We're having a great time," Trump told reporters.
Foundation laid

Trump to become first foreign leader to dine in Forbidden City since founding of modern China

In the 10 months of his presidency, the Trump administration has laid the foundation for him to take the kinds of strong retaliatory measures that would leave Chinese officials fuming. But so far, he hasn't pulled the trigger.
Pulling out his presidential pen, Trump has launched trade investigations into steel and aluminum imports and alleged Chinese theft of US intellectual property. But while those actions signal the administration's seriousness about countering Chinese trade abuses, the follow-up, so far, has been lacking -- even when those reviews have been completed, awaiting presidential action to impose tariffs or other measures to protect US industries.
Trump has offered no signs that his stance on China has changed or that he views the Asian powerhouse as less destructive to US manufacturing or threatening to the US' continued economic dominance. In fact, he's continued to rail against the US trade deficit with China and suggested more decisive action could come soon.
But the presidency has a way of bringing uncomfortable realities crashing down on the most powerful person in the world, like the undeniably intertwined fates of the US and Chinese economies. Or the importance of enlisting China's support in confronting the North Korean nuclear threat.
Few issues have been more at loggerheads over the course of Trump's presidency than trade and North Korea. And few relationships have been a better example of that conflict than that of the US and China.
While a senior White House official insisted earlier this week that Trump would make no trade-offs on his trade agenda in order to elicit more support from China in pressuring North Korea, Trump himself has signaled a willingness to make concessions on trade in exchange for stepped up pressure on Pyongyang from Beijing.
The effort -- which has been peppered with Trump's public praise for Xi and hours devoted to building a personal relationship with the Chinese leader -- has yielded results as China has gone further in sanctioning North Korea and backing the US-led pressure campaign than ever. One key step, China signing on to new UN Security Council sanctions, came only after the White House delayed a move to launch an investigation into alleged Chinese intellectual property theft.
Scaling up pressure on North Korea

Trump tells North Korea: 'Do not try us'

But the Trump administration continues to believe China can and must do more to leverage its influence over the North Korean regime, which trades almost exclusively with China. It's unclear how Trump will react if China resists calls to continue scaling up pressure on North Korea.
As his visit to China approached, Trump and his advisers have made clear that trade is a top item on the agenda -- and Trump's rhetoric on trade often found a target in Beijing as Trump made his way to Tokyo and Seoul.
"It's been a very unfair trade situation. Our trade deficit (with China) is massive. It's hundreds of billions of dollars a year ... It has to come down," Trump said Monday in Japan, before signaling that the US "will take very, very strong action" against countries that he believes have taken advantage of the US.
Trump in Asia: Related coverage
"You're going to see a very big difference, and it's going to happen very soon," Trump added, without offering any more detail.
Aboard Air Force One en route to Beijing, a senior White House official stressed that Trump plans to confront the Chinese on the "severe imbalances in the US-China economic relationship" and ways to remedy the "grossly un-level playing field" for US companies in China.
And while his visit to China will be a crucial opportunity for Trump to press Chinese officials to increase market access for US companies in China, end unfair subsidies to Chinese companies dumping goods in the US and curtail the theft of US intellectual property, his efforts could be undercut by the pressure he must mount on Xi when it comes to North Korea.
But so far Chinese officials have been wary at the prospect of taking more punitive measures against North Korea.
"China has been doing everything we can on the Korean issue," said Cui Tiankai, the Chinese ambassador to the US, who pointed to the UN sanctions that he said are being implemented "with a high cost for China itself."
But, he stressed, "this issue cannot be solved all by China's self."

Poor Dotard fucked both ways.

West love to write fake news on him such as he an idiot in throwing box of food to koi when it was Abe who did it first and then Trump followed that the Western press supressed to make Trump look the fool.
There was guard of honor for Dotard and flag waving kids when he came off his Air Force One, very grand.

You can see a bit of that here http://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-41912325

china state controlled media sides with trump regarding fake news on american media....

https://sg.finance.yahoo.com/news/china-state-controlled-media-sides-060000818.html

President Donald Trump received a ringing endorsement this week from an unexpected source: A highly nationalistic Chinese propaganda outlet.

In a Thursday editorial, China's Global Times praised many of the U.S. leader's qualities, and criticized the American media for "fake reports" that painted a negative picture of the man.

China is this week engaged in an all-out charm offensive to try to butter Trump up for any negotiations he may have with Xi. The U.S. leader arrived in the country on Wednesday.

The Chinese "have figured out, as many other countries have realized, that the way to win over President Trump and get him to back off some of his more hostile campaign rhetoric is to turn up the charm," Aaron Connelly, research fellow at the Lowy Institute for International Policy, told CNBC earlier in the week.

The dig at the U.S. media is particularly noteworthy because Trump has frequently criticized the press, which he has derided as biased and purveyors of "fake news." The propaganda outlet's mirroring of his terminology, therefore, is unlikely to be a coincidence.
