Taiwan’s media inventory Taiwan military’s accidental bombing of the Han Guang’s missiles nearly killed Chen Shuibian

[Global Times comprehensive report] The Taiwan military's "Han Kuang" exercise was frequently reported this year. First, the Air Force major pilot Wu Yan-yi drove the F-16 fighter jet and ransacked the mountain. After the launch of a target on the 5th, the booster's burning product fell. On the hillside, the fire burned for about 4 hours. The Taiwan media recalled the accidents that took place over the years. Missiles and torpedo off-targets were the largest cases. Even the leaders of the Taiwan region who had come to the school were surprised.

Taiwan’s joint news network recalled on the 6th that in September 1994, Taiwan’s “Han Kuang 11” exercise was jointly held in Taitung by the three armed forces. Leader Li Denghui was in attendance at the school. In this exercise, four naval crewmembers were killed because of the naval "success" ship's mistakenly hitting the civilian trailing machine. This was also the case of a small number of casualties caused by non-military casualties. This major mistake made Lee Teng-hui very shocked and ordered the cancellation of this shooting project. In the September 2003 exercise, the Navy’s “successful” standard guided missiles mistakenly knocked down the Air Force “Chinese Academy of Sciences” target aircraft, causing the “Mirage 2000” to have no target to hit, and cancelled the test shot of the Mica missile; then the Navy “Stegosaurus” The submarine “Hailong” had a torpedo “missing” incident. At last, this torpedo “traveled” on the Yilan beach and was discovered by the local fishermen. The navy lost its face to this. When he was then "defence minister," Tang Shaoming also apologized to Chen Shui-bian and the people. In July 2006, the "Han Kuang 22" missile was seriously off-target when launching a towed missile. A sea-level explosion that took place at about 200 meters from leader Chen Shui-bian caused a false alarm. Some reporters also captured Chen Shui-bian’s appalling applause and saw the missile’s surprise explosion.

In addition to this, there were also a lot of fighter accidents, even affecting Singapore. In May 2007, an F-5F fighter of the Taiwan Air Force crashed at Hukou in Hsinchu County during a "Han Kuang" performance. Two pilots were killed and they were struck on the ground, resulting in Singapore's Star Forces trained in Taiwan. Two injuries were dead. The Singapore Ministry of Defence subsequently issued a statement that it will investigate. Taiwan apologized to Singapore. In the rehearsal of the "Han Kuang 34" exercise in May this year, Qin Liangfeng, the paratrooper of the simulated attacking unit of Taichung's Qingquangang attacking force, fell to the ground during the airborne flight. His life signs are now stable. The "Free Newsletter" mentioned that according to statistics, since the "Han Kuang" exercise was held in 1984, there have been 8 fighter accidents, resulting in 11 deaths, of which F-16 fighter planes had a total of 7 crashes (not counting This time this year, 7 pilots were killed. Some media commented that only three consecutive fatal accidents occurred in the Taiwan Air Force in the past six months. This not only caused the authorities to lose face, but also cast doubt on the combat capability of the island’s military. (Yu Ling)
