SINGAPORE: The National Environment Agency (NEA) said the public is more mindful of keeping the environment clean.
It said so far only seven tickets were issued for littering in Chinatown since the start of Lunar New Year festivities there.
Meanwhile, NEA said an additional 270 bins have been placed at the main Lunar New Year celebration events in Singapore - River Hongbao, Chinatown Lunar New Year countdown and Chingay.
And over 120 cleaners are being deployed to pick litter and empty bins throughout the events and support final clean-up operations.
NEA also advises the public against buying from illegal hawkers who may be selling food, drinks and other New Year goodies.
It said it will be deploying enforcement teams to the sites and they will take action against any illegal hawkers and littering offenders.
