Fellow S'poreans, some of you who are renting out to FTs are renting it too cheaply.

HDB rental for FTs....

1 room at SGD 1,000 each, min, 3,000 per month.

Perfectly reasonably since Hotel 81 and Fragrance charge min SGD 120 per night++....approx. SGD 3,600 per month.

Charging about $2500 for monthly rental HDB is too cheap. The master tenant would simply sublet it to at least 10 other FTs, collecting $400 per month for each FT for each bed rented out. Hence, the lowest a Sinkie landlord should rent out for is at least $4000 per month. A smart sinkie should assume that the foreign tenant would by default sublet the flat out illegally despite being warned on paper not to do so. Only a dumb sinkie would think otherwise. Lots of dumb sinkies around. No wonder the old man said sinkies are daft.
