Missed this post.

Cricket Club has some good local delights, plus it's near our office.

My current mission is this Rumpole fella. Who cares about this Ravi joker. He is nothing but trouble. Snaking his way out of IMH.

My opportunity for coffee with you will come soon enough.

Lawyers acting for the four SMRT bus drivers from China charged with instigating an illegal strike last month will have till next Friday to make their representations.

The prosecution is expected to reply by Jan 4 and another pre-trial conference will be held on Jan 10.

The lawyers revealed this to reporters at the Subordinate Courts yesterday.

All four accused men - Gao Yueqiang, 32; Liu Xiangying, 33; Wang Xianjie, 39, and He Junling, 32 - had appeared in court accompanied by their respective lawyers for their first pre-trial conference.

The men had been charged with instigating an illegal strike which involved 171 SMRT bus drivers on Nov 26, and 88 drivers the following day.

He faces an additional charge of inciting the workers to strike through an online post.

Speaking to reporters outside the court yesterday, lawyer Mark Goh, who is representing Liu, said: "If representation is not successful, it could very quickly turn into a trial."

If a trial is to take place, it would likely be held in late February or early March, said lawyer Choo Zheng Xi, who represents He.

It is still not known if the four men intend to contest the charges against them.

SINGAPORE: Police said two defendants who had been charged for their roles in an SMRT bus strike in November 2012 have made serious allegations in a video online that they been assaulted while in police custody.

Police said in a statement on Tuesday night that they are aware of the video interviews.

They urged the two men, 32-year-old He Jun Ling and 33-year-old Liu Xiang Ying, to make a police report so that they can investigate the case.

Police said the defendants' lawyers can also raise this matter in court when the case against them is heard.

Police added that as the case is currently before the court, it is not appropriate for them to comment on it.
