China and Indonesia have launched their second joint military drills in Jinan, of east China’s Shandong Province.
The exercises between Chinese and Indonesian special forces will last 15 days.
The official theme for this year’s military drill is "United to fight terrorism". It is bringing together Special Forces from
the Chinese People’s Liberation Army and Tentara National Indonesia. The teams worked on shooting, parachute
landing, blockading and seizing tactics.
A combat-simulation system is also being used to mimic real-life situations and confrontation. This includes a
specially-constructed street block of tens of thousands of tires.
Meanwhile a parachuting ground has been built at a high altitude. It’s a difficult landscape by choice - with obstacles like
rocks and trees - to provide a chance to practice airborne landings in mountainous areas. A computerized warfare
system will also be employed combining laser sensors and an automatic scoring system.
Chinese Special Forces team comes from the Jinan Military Area Command of the Chinese Army. It has an 18-year history
and has won awards in numerous international Special Forces competitions.
