China, flush with cash, rushes to Yingluck's rescue

Chinese don't eat and don't like Thai fragrance rice so its definitely not for domestic consumption

In Thailand only a small proportion of rice is the Jasmine Fragrance rice. I am sure the contract rice like most contracts are the normal rice. Even before this contract Thailand is already exporting the Jasmine Frangrance rice to China. If you go China and talk to the people about Thai fragrance rice they will tell you that its expensive rice for the rich. Indeed it is as its sold at a higher price. Mind you, imitation Thai fragrance rice is rampant in China as the rice likes it.

New rice more expensive rite? Price of rice had been low for last 1-2 yrs yet current rice price in spore still at time of the grain shortage of 2008. All the rice merchants in Singapore are blood suckers.

In Thailand, new rice is slightly more expensive in my market near home due to its fragrance and good taste. I have to say I'm lucky as my home don't buy rice from the supermarket as we get our rice mostly from the maid's kampong for free.

Hehehe. This one you know already. Yes, new rice is best for making Khao Tom (porridge and congee). Talking about new rice, keep reminding me of an incident where I passed one bag of new rice to a friend on his visit to Pattaya. KNS, later then I realize he have to carry the bag around walking street, my bad. :p

Pai Seh again to that friend.

jasmine fragance rice from thailand is the most popular among ranch 99 buyers here in the bay area. most of the ranch 99 customers are ethnic chinese and vietnamese. most expensive brand too. imo, the phoenix brand has the best tasting and most fragant long grain rice.

Those whole grain rice are much more expensive and there're those with Vitamins enriched too.

The best rice in China are from Northern China, which are more expensive and much sought after. The ones that you can find in China supermarkets are mixed with other rice and pass on as that kind of rice. Worst still, there are businessmen who buy old rice, polish them, add fragrant additives and sell them as new rice.

These rice are like those Jap rice - soft and sticky, which is the way the Chinese like it. They find that our Thal rice though more fragrant, is a little too hard for their taste. Quality Chinese rice taste better than Thai rice so they don't see the need to buy the more expensive Thai rice which are all sole in small packages as they are not very popular. The quality also not as good as the ones we are eating here.

Nope, the middlemen and suppliers will be the one smiling to the banks. Everything else remains the same.

My Thai rice exporter customer has been complaining to me for a long time now as the govt has artificially raised the price of rice by buying from farmers at a price higher than market rate. This has also cause an over supply of rice and so the price is not sustainable and the selling price will drop if its more than 1 year old. The Thai govt could not find enough buyers as the importers are switching to cheaper rice (like Vietnam rice) so they can only approach countries like Indon and China to buy them. The only winners in this game are the farmers and consumers.

Bloody China is using money to "buy" political support. Cambodia is already 1 of their "bought" ally because of various monetary aids provided by China. That is why during the recent ASEAN meeting, Cambodia had displayed support towards China's handling of the South China Sea disputes with the Philippines and Vietnam. I hope Thailand won't follow the same route. Otherwise, ASEAN will eventually disintegrate because of infighting, caused indirectly by the hypocrite China.

Do you think Singapore is not already in their pocket as well?

Thailand is like Singapore where both countries have not claims on disputed territories with China.

Like Singapore, Yingluck is also playing it safe by covering her frontside as well as her backside:eek:

That's why both countries joined Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) headed by
China and Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) an initiative by USA.

Thailand traditionally plays all sides....from old time Siam to then WWII.....
I dun like china and dun have indepth knowledge on the mechanics of rice.....but as long as farmers income are raise then I am with china on this one....if this increases the overall price of rice....I am also fine.....it's high time we pay fair price for the rice we eat.
Most important for me that this is a boost for Thai govt especially with new anti govt protests from the fuckturd yellow fractions.

That's why china is willing to import from Thailand, because even china rice can be tainted with chemicals to make expired rice taste and look like new rice.

there are many alternative sources. pinoy and vietnam rice grains are improving and price quite good.

Vietnamese rice is OK but have you tried flip rice ? Cannot be used for Hainanese Chicken Rice. Even Nasi Lemak cooks avoid them.

I Cantonese so congee an important food for us. Eat every few days so must be nice mah.

The pack of rice how many kgs? Your friend must be darn fit to even walk ard with a 5kg pack.

Bro narong,

The Thai rice farmers only get a small portion of the money while the bulk go to those blood sucker middlemen. With the bumper harvest, the price of rice shd fall as per determine by demand and supply. By artificially propping up the price, all it did was fatten the coffers of the middlemen. The money would be better spend improving infastuctures of the rural areas, provide more funding to schools for rural areas etc etc... Only by doing these that the next generation of rural Thais can escape proverty.

This one I not just with you but stick so right to you.

Yesterday was like D-Day for the organizers predicted 100,000-200,000 protesters but said will call off protest if less than 50,000 people. By noon turn up was like 7,000 then went passed 10,000 but never even touch 20,000. Violence was expected long ago so the police turned up full force. 2 small skirmish nothing serious. Bad karma had been working against them since the last election even the massive man made flood could not topple the new government which the government came out of it stronger what more another protest. Once again bad karma fall on them with rain through our the day and finally heavy downpour late afternoon which forced the organizer to call it off. D-Day was more like Fuck-all day. This is a big blow for them for three reasons. A lot of money was spent in this single protest as more than 100k people were paid, I course smarter now many took the money by did not turn up and also a big chunk makan by phu-yai who promised his whole village will turn up. Secondly this is another very clear example that their ground support is waning at a rate that's unexpected. Thirdly Bangkok people at showing frustration with more protests so their traditional stronghold Bangkok is showing strong signs of dissatisfaction.

Coming back to the main topic, this government had time and again delivered what they promised, solving the drug issue, universal medical care, minimum wage, economic targets, foreign investments and of course rice prices, not just rice in the past was rubber, palm oil etc etc. good for them good for Thais.

They should forget democracy and make Thaksin king of Thailand.
