China Aviation Industry Corporation (hereinafter referred to as the aviation industry) recently revealed that in order to speed up the development of the "Jilong" AG600 aircraft, the aviation industry will continue to put into operation four test flights to speed up the process of airworthiness for evidence collection. The AG600 is a large-scale fire/water rescue amphibious aircraft independently developed by China, and is a major national aviation engineering development project.

Aircraft structure optimization design will be carried out

Zhou Guoqiang, a spokesperson for the aviation industry, said recently that after completing the first flight on land and the first flight on the water, the AG600 will focus on three aspects: aircraft optimization design, 003 machine parts manufacturing and riveting, and 001 machine full-scale scientific test flight. jobs. According to the plan, the 003 machine will be opened for parts manufacturing this year, and the parts will be riveted at the end of the year. On the basis of the existing first flight results, the development team will carry out the aircraft structure, system improvement and optimization design, and at the same time carry out improved design and test verification around improving the maximum takeoff weight and improving the system configuration of fire fighting and rescue missions.

Complete the second phase of research and development test flight at the end of December

On the basis of the first flight of the 001 aircraft on the 001 aircraft, the aviation industry AG600 test flight will carry out research flight test around the performance characteristics such as stall characteristics, hydrodynamic characteristics, and envelope expansion. At the same time, it will be combined with R&D flight test, interspersed for test pilot model modification training and flight test. Qualification training. The second phase of research and development flight test was completed at the end of December.

Together with the new generation of strategic military large-scale transport aircraft "Yun 20" and the large civilian aircraft "C919", the AG600 is known as the "three-swordsman" of China's large aircraft. On September 5, 2009, the AG600 project was officially launched. On July 23, 2016, the 001 machine was completed in the Zhuhai Aviation Industrial Park. On December 24, 2017, the first flight on land was successfully achieved at Zhuhai Jinwan Airport. On October 20, 2018, the first flight of the water was completed at the Jingmen Luhe Airport in Hubei.

AG600 speed is more than 10 times that of salvage ships

The AG600 aircraft is mainly developed for the needs of forest fire fighting and water rescue in China. When a fire occurs, the AG600 can drown from the waters of rivers, lakes, reservoirs, etc. near the fire, or directly carry water and flame retardants to the fire. The AG600 can pump up to 12 tons at a time and can be filled at a height of 30 to 50 meters from the treetops.

When used for maritime rescue, the speed of the AG600 is more than 10 times that of the salvage ship. In addition to searching at low altitudes, the surface rescue can be carried out under the complicated conditions of 2 meters high waves, and 50 people in distress can be rescued at one time.

2020 Long March 5 rocket will launch a Mars probe

The reporter was informed that in 2019, China's aerospace industry will have many highlights worthy of attention. China Aerospace will continue to open the "30+" model. China Aerospace Science and Technology Group Co., Ltd. plans to launch more than 30 aerospace launches throughout the year, launching more than 50 spacecraft.

Among them, some "star" projects are eye-catching. The Long March 5 carrier rocket will be re-launched and will perform the go-around mission. This is the key battle for winning and defeating after the launch in mid-2017. The fifth will realize the first lunar sampling return in China, which is technically difficult and systematic. Complexity is the landmark task of the third phase of the lunar exploration project; the Beidou satellite navigation project will complete the 7-Arrow 10-Star launch mission, laying a solid foundation for the full completion of global networking construction in 2020; the Long March 11 will implement the first sea launch; The Long No. 1 commercial launch vehicle will make its first flight; the cumulative launch number of the Long March series of launch vehicles will exceed 300 times. Among them, the Long March 3A series launch vehicle will complete the 100th launch of the single series this year.

In addition, in 2020, the Long March V rocket will launch a Mars probe and send it directly to the ground fire transfer orbit. China's first Mars exploration will achieve the three goals of “surrounding, landing, and patrolling” at one time, which is unprecedented in other countries when it first implemented Mars exploration.

VIDEO 2:59 The giant Stratolaunch aircraft took off for the first time in the Mojave Desert.
ABC NEWS
A giant six-engine aircraft with the world's longest wingspan completed what company officials called a successful initial flight over California's Mojave Desert, bringing to life a dream held by late Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen.

Key points:
The plane has a 117-metre wingspan, longer than any other aircraft in the world
The plane is designed to launch satellites from the air, avoiding the limitations of fixed launch sites
The aircraft was built by a company owned by late Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen
Jean Floyd, Stratolaunch Systems chief executive, said the aircraft made a "spectacular" landing that was on the mark.

Stratolaunch, which was founded by Mr Allen, is vying to be a contender in the market for air-launching small satellites. He died in October.

"It was an emotional moment for me, to personally watch this majestic bird take flight, to see Paul Allen's dream come to life in front of my very eyes," Mr Floyd told a teleconference briefing.

Mr Floyd said that as the plane took off, "I did whisper a 'thank you' to Paul for allowing me to be part of this remarkable achievement".

The behemoth, twin-fuselage Stratolaunch jet took off from Mojave Air and Space Port and climbed into the desert sky 112 kilometres north of Los Angeles.

The jet flew for two and a half hours, achieving a maximum speed of 304 kilometres per hour and altitudes up to 17,000 feet (5,181 meters), the company said.

Test pilot Evan Thomas said the flight overall was "fantastic" and for the most part the plane flew as predicted.

"The airplane very nicely, smoothly rotated and really just lifted off the ground," he said.

"It definitely was ready to fly and wanted to fly and climbed out quickly."

Mr Thomas said there were "a few little things that were off-nominal but really for a first flight it was spot on."

The aircraft is designed to carry as many as three satellite-laden rockets at a time under the centre of its enormous wing, which stretches 117 metres — a longer wingspan than any other aircraft.

At an altitude of 35,000 feet (10,668 metres), the rockets would be released, ignite their engines and soar into space.

The advantages of such air-launch systems include being able to use numerous airports and avoid the limitations of fixed launch sites which can be impacted by weather, air traffic and ship traffic on ocean ranges.

While Stratolaunch called its 73-metre-long aircraft the world's largest, other airplanes exceed it in length from nose to tail.

They include the six-engine Antonov AN 225 cargo plane, which is 84 metres long, and the Boeing 747-8, which is just over 76 metres long.
