A man in Guangdong province yesterday afternoon slit the throat of a Walmart supermarket sales clerk as she tried to stop him from stealing.

The 27-year-old female assistant, who was to marry next month, was declared dead at the scene.

According to NetEase, the victim spotted the man shoplifting and tried to stop him from leaving at at 4:55 p.m.

As he was running away, he grabbed a knife on a shelf and slit her throat. Medical staff pronounced that the bride-to-be was dead upon arrival at the scene.

The shop was closed after the incident, reports Shanghaiist.

The killer, whose face was captured on surveillance camera, was subsequently arrested in a village in Zhanjiang by the local authorities.

She was eagerly looking forward to being married next month, and now she leaves behind a grieving fiancée.
