Panel to probe Chiam's ex-protege

THE Singapore People's Party (SPP) led by Mr Chiam See Tong has set up a disciplinary committee to investigate recent actions and remarks by the Potong Pasir MP's ex-protege Desmond Lim.
It will examine Mr Lim's refusal to abide by the party's decision last month to replace him as secretary-general of the Singapore Democratic Alliance (SDA), which Mr Chiam also chairs.
It is also expected to look into comments made by Mr Lim about talks between Mr Chiam, 75, and Reform Party chief Kenneth Jeyaretnam, 51, over the latter's interest in joining the SDA.
The committee was set up at an SPP central executive committee (CEC) meeting last night which both Mr Chiam and Mr Lim attended.
The five-man disciplinary committee will be headed by CEC member R.N. Rai, sources told The Straits Times. If it finds that Mr Lim breached party rules, it can recommend that the CEC suspend, expel or demote him. According to the party constitution, an expelled member can appeal to the CEC, or to members at an ordinary party conference.
When contacted last night, Mr Lim, 42, declined to comment and directed queries to Mr Chiam. The opposition veteran could not be reached for comment about the disciplinary committee.

Chiam cannot hold on parties he create?

Create SDP, quit party, form SPP.

Create SDA, now also problem?

Chiam might pull SPP out of SDA before the next GE.

Hiaz, all this bickering and quarrels.......they need to be united because they face a formidable foe. If they are so divided, then half the battle is lost. Why can't they just get along, be strong....and fuck the PAP in the ass!

Once SPP is out of SDA, Desmond who is still a SPP member will be forced to be removed as SG of SDA. Without the support of the other two component parties in SDA, Desmond will be on his own in SPP. And he might also risk being expelled by the SPP disciplinary committee set up by old Chiam.

SDA on their own, will also face problems, as SPP had been the leading component party driving the alliance. If that happens, SDA might just slowly fade away into exile.

Chiam is very much a lone wolf; that's why he could not move beyong Potong Pasir.

This ugly fat fuck should be kicked out of SPP SDA.

Why not join PAP????????

Chiam is very much a lone wolf; that's why he could not move beyong Potong Pasir.

Old Chiam is trying to do that now, targetting Bishan - Toa Payoh GRC, he couldn't field a strong team from SDA, so he wanted RP to join in. But RP's harsh terms and conditions for joining the alliance put off many in SDA.

Can understand Desmond's concern, RP with no previous election experience, wants to come in and take over key posts in the alliance, including taking over SG of SDA, if i'm not wrong. No one agreed with that except Old Chiam.

Then the issue of the SPP logo being too similar to the SDA logo, if SPP leaves the alliance, will see two almost similar logos during GE. Either one will probably change their logo.

Old Chiam might end up losing in Bishan-Toa Payoh, and his wife losing in Potong Pasir due to all these infighting. As for Desmond, can't see him winning in Pasir Ris-Punggol, despite winning one third of the votes in the last GE. Can't even stand for election if he becomes partyless very soon.
