Cheng Bock: There is a SPLIT within the PAP

Dear Cpt

I would add that the impetus for Dr Tan CB came when the workers party won. The ogliogarchs as you have so rightly defined work on a mafia like inner circle defined by relationships and loyalties. The cardinals elect the pope and the pope elect the cardinals. Whilst LKY described this as the PAP cadre , it also defined the inner circles of power which selected the cadre and finally the circle within the circle that selected the inner circle.

G Yeo was sacrficed, Charles thought that the party was out to do him in when they sent him to JC. When the PAP did not face a challenge , when the brand of the party was strong enough, when all opposition was surpressed and idiots rained supreme within opposition parties , then intelligent sheep could be selected who would follow orders because ultimately power resided within those who controlled the Party, Retirement and a lost of privilege can be a very powerful incentive to toe the party line.

TCB stood out because of his broad based grassroots appeal. I only heard about him but after seeing him and working for his campaign I understand why the PAP kept him on for so long despite his occasional disobedience, he was midly put it to good at his job and not dependent on the PA or the PAP.

The change has to come from all sides, both the opposition and voices from within the estab and the PAP. The inner circle will be torn between adapting or persecuting and in the PA n HDB moves I see a conservative backlash.

The opposition rise threatens a PAP lost, the lost can be contained by selecting more lions to combat the opposition or they might just continue with the status quo and select sheep like miss TPL with a dose of repression.

That inner circle will not fragment , but the people outside the silent people within the estab, who know about the ins and outs but are not willing to trade wealth position and ties to challenge the PAP, will hopefully rise in a challenge

(NS) BRANDON;812953]Yes, alot of what you are saying makes sense.
However, we can choose to give up or we can choose to make progress and recognise every step of progress as a positive step. Dr TCB's election as President would have been a positive step, and a pretty significant one.

The ouster of GCT, GY and LBH was a negative step in terms of fighting the Familee. People need to realise that not all that is PAP is evil, and not all that is opposition is good. That's all I am saying.

I get really annoyed whenever I see people saying "TCB, oh he's another PAP dog". If he was a PAP dog, he would have been parachuted into a GLC job just like Wee Siew Kim. The Familee establishment clearly did not want TCB in the Istana, and that's why they resorted to doing what they did.

Change is not going to be brought about by opposition alone. You have to realise that the playing field is so skewed that the opposition can never hope to win more than 2 or 3 GRCs, which would not even deny the PAP a 2/3 majority even if it were achieved. People talk about the opposition winning 6 seats as if it were a massive achievement, but what does it achieve? LHL has dropped a hint that his "comfort level" is actually 9 opposition MPs, which is why he created 9 NCMP positions.

Back to the stuff you said about the Familee being entrenched in the economy and in the civil service. It's sad but true. It's also really disgusting. It feels like Indonesia under Suharto or the Philippines under Marcos (minus the large scale graft and corruption). I would really hate it to come to a point where the disenfranchised people feel that the only way out was through revolution, just like what happened in those two countries.[/QUOTE]

I really don't quite understand why Scroobal and those TCB felt strongly that it is bad that TCB didn't win and would try to pinpointing who should be responsible for it.

After much thought, I think this result is actually quite excellent.

A close shave win for TT is actually no win but a humiliation. It also rings the alarm bell for PAP.

The blessing in disguise for TCB is that now that he has lost, he could make as much noise as he could and most probably could motivate his younger group of people to move on to form a political party with his full endorsement. If he had won, he won't be able to play this role in partisan politics. This would mean that PAP will really split into two.

I am not sure if it is TCB's inner desire to motivate young people to move on to form political parties. But as of latest, he still wants to play a unifying role, if I never read wrongly.

That is poor argument. "Good thing that TCB did not win as winning would be not allow TCB to be involved in opposition politics." What kind of rubbish is that. The idea was not to have TT in. Many of us would have accepted a baboon in the Istana including TKL. The office of President is a dud. And the office was never the goal of many. It is to cut down the PAP to size.

In terms of being able to highlight the slackings and poor policies of the PAPzis, the president certainly wouldn't be called a dud. This is no different from what the WP MPs will be doing in parliament except that coming from the president, it will be more prevalent and powerful.
And to those that think that there can ever be a split within the PAPzis sufficient to create two groups with sufficient strength then you are incredulously crazy. Firstly, it is my believe that the higher ups within the PAPzis were chosen not for their strengths but rather for their weakness. In order to make the prince look good, he must be surrounded by less worthwhile beings. Secondly, there is fewer than a handful of higher ups who are capable but these are either family members or are somehow beholden to the prince. The rest shouldn't even be trusted to build a parking lot let alone lead a revolt!
