By Derrick Ho
A SINGAPOREAN man suspected of cheating a Chinese national of RMB30,000 (S$6,600) at Changi Airport was nabbed by police on Tuesday.
Police said the 21-year-old Chinese national was waiting for his agent at the arrival hall of Changi Airport's Terminal 3 at about 8am when the suspect approached him posing as his agent.
The suspect then duped him into handing over the sum of money as a deposit to the company he was going to work for.
The 47-year-old suspect then drove him in his mini-bus to the Budget Terminal where he was dropped off. When the victim suspected that something was amiss after waiting for about two hours, he called his agent and realised he had been cheated. A police report was promptly lodged.
The suspect was arrested by officers from the Airport Police Division at about 7.30pm at the his home.. He is also believed to be involved in other similar cheating cases.
