A MAN who pretended to be a nurse when he trespassed into a private hospital ward and molested a patient was cleared on Monday. Technical officer Sim Siang Heng, 40, was acquitted of touching the breasts of the 28-year-old flight attendant on Jan 28 after he agreed to pay her $4,500. He was, however, given a discharge not amounting to an acquittal for trespassing into the victim's room at Ward 8 of the hospital.

He had been given a stern warning.
He was acquitted of another charge of trespassing into the room of a 31-year-old woman with intent to annoy her. Any person convicted of outrage of modesty can be jailed for up to two years or fined or caned or received any combined sentence. The maximum penalty for trespass is a jail term of up to one year or a fined of up to $3,000.
