Charged with attempted murder
MELBOURNE: A Malaysian student has been charged with attempted murder before the Port Adelaide magistrate's court, The Advertiser reports.
Cheong Sim Siong, 21, is alleged to have stabbed a woman several times at The Avenue, Athol Park, Adelaide, on Friday night.
The 26-year-old victim, from the Adelaide suburb of Richmond, was found with multiple stab wounds at a car park in The Avenue about 10pm.
On Tuesday night, police arrested Cheong, from the suburb of Broadviews, and charged him with attempted murder and one count of aggravated assault causing harm.
Cheong was remanded in custody. He will face the court again in September.
The woman has been warded at the Royal Adelaide Hospital in a critical condition. Bernama
