Indian tourist jailed for shoplifting at Singapore's Changi Airport - VnExpress International

A court in Singapore on Monday sentenced a 29-year-old Indian tourist to eight days in jail for shoplifting while in transit at Changi Airport.

Goenka Simran pleaded guilty to one count of theft in a dwelling,
The Straits Times reported.
According to court documents, Simran arrived in Singapore on June 2 and was waiting for her connecting flight to Bali at Terminal 3.

She entered a Furla store, took a yellow purse worth over S$300 (US$233), placed it on her luggage trolley, and left the store without paying.
She also admitted to stealing a bottle of perfume worth more than S$200 from a cosmetics store at Terminal 2.
In a separate case, another Indian tourist, Garg Prasha, 30, was fined S$700 after pleading guilty to one count of theft,
NDTV reported.
After arriving from India, Prasha entered the Charles & Keith store at Terminal 2, took a black haversack bag, placed it in her trolley, and left without paying.
Under Singapore law, theft is punishable by up to three years in jail, a fine, or both. Theft in a dwelling carries a maximum penalty of seven years' imprisonment and a fine.
