MOSCOW, September 20. /ITAR-TASS/. The Russian Defence Ministry on Saturday flatly denied the Ukrainian military chief’s allegations about the use of tactical nuclear weapons at Lugansk’s airport in eastern Ukraine.
Ukrainian media reports said that Defence Minister Geletei had made this statement upon return from talks in Poland.
“The leadership of Ukraine should consider sending Geletei through a basic military training course where rookies learn the main effects of a nuclear explosion and its consequences,” the Russian Defence Ministry said in what meant to be a jock.
“Speaking seriously, Geletei’s regular attempts to justify the failures of the punitive operation in the south-east of Ukraine by alleged actions of Russian army units look like paranoia. But no reasonable person will take them seriously,” the ministry said.
Ukrainian media earlier in the day quoted Geletei as telling one of the journalists that the Russian army had delivered two tactical nuclear strikes on the Lugansk airport from a self-propelled Tyulpan 2S4 mortar system, thus causing the Ukrainian troops to leave the area.
“The strikes were so powerful that they demolished buildings completely from top to bottom,” media reports quoted him as saying.

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko addressed the country Wednesday, saying Russian forces that are allegedly in eastern Ukraine are now withdrawing. He also said he will offer the pro-Russian separatists political concessions.

Moscow, however, says that its troops cannot withdraw from Ukraine because they were never there. Russian President Vladimir Putin said he is “satisfied” with the cease-fire that is overall holding steady.

Putin also criticized Ukraine’s recent proposal to join NATO. He said Wednesday that Russia will counter military moves by the U.S. and NATO with an array of new nuclear and conventional weapons.

At the same time, he emphasized that Russia will not enter a new arms race and will tightly control its military budget to avoid overburdening the economy.

Putin accused the West of using the crisis in Ukraine to reinvigorate NATO, warning that Moscow will ponder a response to the alliance’s decision to create a rapid-reaction “spearhead” force to protect Eastern Europe.

The statement appeared to signal that the Russian leader is determined to pursue a tough course in the face of more Western sanctions over the Ukraine crisis that has sent Russia-West relations plummeting to their lowest point since the Cold War.

Addressing a Kremlin meeting on weapons modernization, Putin ominously warned the West against getting “hysterical” about Moscow’s re-arming efforts, in view of U.S. missile defense plans and other decisions he said have challenged Russia’s security.

Moscow confidently laugh off the accusation of using nuke. So they know that no trace of nuclear arsons could be found there.

Certain bombs like FAE etc works alike tactical nuke. This one could be something newer weapon.

Putin is clearly sending Obama and NATO a clear msg of NDP fireworks to welcome NATO troops into Syria to fight w so called ISIS.

This simple demo tells NATO that their troops will turn into huge mushroom clouds.

Why the already ruined (nearly flattened) and rather airport is selected as target is part of the msg hinting NATO that their airforces will also be in mushrooms. Airport relates to airforce.
