I don't get it. This scammer family have been in Burma for generations. Although they have done crimes against Chinese citizens, shouldn't they be tried and punished according to Burmese law?

The Chinese have reservations about the Myanmar judicial system. They may have previously sought permission for the extradition of the suspects, but they may be persuaded and pressurized to agree to it. As four Chinese undercover agents have been murdered in the operation.

Iirc the hokkien money laundering gang caught here weren't extradited back to China but to the countries of their 2nd passports.

Are you referring to the hokkien gang? I believe sinkapore only charged them for money laundering. No other crimes committed here.Those guys had made their pile from illegal casinos in pinoyland.
