Hi staff of Temasek Review,
I am a regular reader of Temasek Review and also a gay Singaporean citizen concerned about the local political scene.
While I am impressed by Ms. Sylvia Lim and Mr. Low Thia Khiang, I am less so by the Worker’s Party sidestepping of the 377A issue. I realise that this may be something that was debated some three years ago, but as a gay individual I still feel that it’s something close to my heart.
The SDP has been unequivocal in their backing of the gay community, and I will feel most comfortable to vote for them. With regards to the gay issue though, even the incumbent government seems more progressive on the stand than WP. When I left a comment on Mr. Gerald Giam’s blog post titled Singapore Keeps a Straight Face on Gay Sex Law (http://geraldgiam.sg/2007/10/singapore-keeps-a-straight-face-on-gay-sex-law/), he removed the entire post. A google search will reveal that he has made it private. He also refused to publish another one of my comments seeking clarification in another post.
As much as I support opposition parties in their endeavors, I do feel that Mr. Giam’s refusal to even publish my comment on his blog just because my views contradict his to reflect badly on his credibility as a politician.
