Today, our Women’s Wing marked International Women’s Day with a firm commitment to take action against online harms.More than 1,500 activists across all 93 PAP branches stood ready today to uplift and support those faced with the growing risks of online harms, particularly our women and girls.
In today’s digital age, it is them who are most exposed and vulnerable to online threats, unwelcomed words and hurtful behaviours. This is not something we stand for, and we must ensure that our women feel as safe and confident in the digital environment, as they do in real life.
Chairwoman for PAP Women’s Wing, Mrs @joteo.ylm said, “We must rally the wider community to take action and together, empower women to keep themselves safe when they go online. To every young girl and woman out there grappling with instances of cyberbullying, unwanted comments, online harassment or abuse in any form, today we assure you – you are not alone.”
Fun fact: That’s the Aranda Mothers of Singapore orchid – a special hybrid that reflects the strength and resilience of our women. We’ve adopted this beautiful bloom as an emblem of solidarity with her, as well as a symbol of our collective action in today’s fight against online harms. It is also a reminder of how good things can happen when we all come together.
Will you stand with her too?
