Heavy vehicles are not supposed to travel on West Coast Way.

But in the 45 minutes after auxiliary police officers put up a video camera at the road yesterday morning, six such vehicles were seen flouting the rule.

Police had received numerous complaints and feedback about the presence of heavy vehicles in the area, which might endanger residents, especially young children.

Traffic Police statistics show that accidents involving heavy vehicles were responsible for 20 per cent of fatal accidents last year.
