A New Zealand cat is "extraordinarily lucky" to be alive after being shot in the head with a crossbow bolt.
Four-year-old 'Moo Moo' is now recovering he underwent emergency surgery at Massey Veterinary Teaching Hospital to remove the bolt.
Incredibly, it had entered just above his left eye and protruded through the skull without touching any brain tissue.
Donna Ferrari, Moo Moo's owner, first noticed the arrow through the scared cat's head when he was hiding in bushes and refusing to come out.
"I'm sick to my stomach," Ms Ferrari said.
"Hopefully the person responsible is caught or feels so much hatred from the community that they never do anything like it again."

Moo Moo's owner, Ms Donna Ferrari, says she is sick to the stomach after the attack.
Moo Moo shouldn't suffer any long term effects, according to Massey Veterinary Teaching Hospital, and is reportedly "bright and happy" following surgery.
"There was a little bit of injury to his nose and eye socket, but he's an extraordinarily lucky cat," Dr Jonathan Bray said.
"The velocity of the bolt hitting him would have been quite frightening, so he's very brave."
