A NIGHT at the Ginza karaoke pub turned violent after a man invited a woman at another table to join him and go to another club. A cat fight broke out, and on Friday, Ng Mei Fang, 28, became the first of the four women involved to plead guilty to disturbing the peace. The finance officer, was fined $1,000.
A district court heard that the divorcee was at the pub at Sembawang Road at 12.30am on Nov 11 last year with her cousin Ong Poh Eng, 30, and friend Heng Ai Hoon, 30, both of whom are housewives. Her boyfriend had left earlier.
One of the two men seated at another table with Doreen Yap Xiao Ping, 26, a spa worker, invited Ong to follow them to another pub. She declined the offer but later, when Yap was outside the pub smoking, a quarrel broke out between her and Heng.
Once inside, the dispute turned ugly and all four women started kicking and punching each other.
Yap summoned the police. Taken to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital, doctors found bruises and scratch marks on all the women. As the pub was a public place, they were charged with disturbing the peace by committing affray. The other women will be dealt with later this month.
