Man fined $10,000 for using wife's IC to enter casino

A man who excluded himself from the casino just could not resist the temptation when he made use of his wife's identity card 10 times to enter Marina Bay Sands casino.

Wong Yong Kheong, 39, a construction manager, was fined $5,000 on each of two charges on Wednesday of using the identity card of his wife, Madam Wong Ban Siew, 39, to get into MBS casino on Feb 8 and 12.

Eight other similar charges were taken into consideration. A Community Court heard that Wong applied for a self-exclusion order in October last year.

But less than three months later, on Dec 31, he began using his wife's IC to get into the Bayfront Avenue casino without lawful authority.

Do the casino staff actually look at the IC photo and at the person to ascertain man or woman?

Nope. They are usually stationed about 3 metres away. Not difficult to use another person's ID to get in. But not worth it when caught. If want to gamble, just pay the $100 or 2k.

Stupid man donate $10k to gahment for fuck? If he want to go, no need self ban or can simply self unban. But the casino officials must be sacked and charged and fined too. How can let man use woman IC to get in?

Thanks bro.
So the IC is scanned at the entrance and there is no comparison of face to picture at the entrance I presume.
Haven't been to the SG casinoes yet. All the overseas casinoes I have been to either require no ID or someone looks at the passport.

A man who used his wife's identity card to enter a casino was on Tuesday fined a total of $6,000.

His wife was fined a total of $3,000 after pleading guilty to two charges of abetting him to use her IC to enter Resorts World Sentosa casino last December.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Elena Yip told the court that on the evening of Dec 20 last year, Philip Oh Choon Aik suggested to his wife that he could use her identity card to enter the casino.

The 45-year-old, who is self-employed in the piping industry, could not enter as he had applied for a National Council for Problem Gambling exclusion order.

Section for foreigners always manned by casino security unlike the entrance for locals. All foreigners have their passports checked so not likely to get away. In the case of locals, it depends on your luck. After your IC is scanned, the security chaps standing approx 3m away may or may not request to take a look at your IC. Haven't been in for quite awhile so my info here may not be completely accurate.

Never understood the rationale of the $100 casino entry fee imposed for Singaporeans.

It does not solve problem gambling.

Hardcore gamblers would simply buy the annual entry pass for $2000, and enter the casino for as many times as they please.

Also, the proliferation of pawnshops and moneylenders islandwide over the recent years only add more fuel to problem gambling.

Prevent overcrowding? Nope. the Banglas, Pinoy and Ah Tiong workers crowd up the casinos on weekends.
