According to a survey released by the Consumer Association of Singapore (CASE) food prices at hawker centres have increased between 10 to 20% in just 2 years from December 2012.
The survey, which was conducted in July this year, looked at food prices at hundreds of hawker stalls island-wide and compared them with food prices from December 2012.
The survey looked at the price of 5 common food items: chicken nasi briyani, chicken rice, plain roti prata, fishball noodles and mixed vegetables rice with 2 veges, 1 meat.
They looked at the mode price (the price which occurred most often) from 503 hawker stalls and found that fishball noodles remained at $3 while the other dishes increased by 10c to 50c a plate.
