Eight men were spotted trying to lift a car that was stuck in a drain. The incident, which took place in Little India on Oct 21, was caused by flash floods that took place in the area.

A Stomp reader who submitted pictures of the incident to Stomp, said: 'Eight men could not lift a car that was stuck in the drain.

Angeline painted a picture of danger: 'This stretch of road behind Boardway Hotel in Little India does not have a street lamp and the drains are not covered.

'Every month, a few cars will meet the same fate, especially at night.

She also said that she reported 'the problems' to HDB more than a year ago but no improvement works were carried out.

Flash floods were reported in several areas yesterday due to heavy rain.

According to national water agency PUB, flash floods yesterday rendered two lanes at Upper Serangoon Road impassable to traffic. Other affected areas include the slip road at Kranji-Expressway, towards Woodlands Road.

Due to heavy rains over the island on Saturday (Oct 22) between 12.50pm to 1.50pm, PUB has since issued a flash flood warning for low-lying areas.
