A car carrying three students from Nanyang Technological University (NTU) had crashed into the canal at the junction of Nanyang Crescent and Nanyang Avenue after a collision with another car yesterday (Oct 31).
The accident took place shortly after noon, during which heavy rains swept through most of Singapore.
After crashing through some railings into the canal, the car was then dragged by strong currents for more than 50m.
According to NTU, two students were unhurt while the third student, a passenger, had slight injuries. They are all male.
Police are still investigating the accident.
STOMPer Taha, who saw the overturned car, said:
"This Toyota Corolla smashed into the canal during a heavy downpour and overturned.
Fortunately, only the passenger was only slightly injured."
