Back then I had a guy who AWOL many years then after a couple more inside DB was released to serve his remaining NS time.....33 year old NS private....even though he was my man I address him as uncle.

When he was at his prime (which was also the age to be enlisted), Ang Peng Siong had to serve national service without deferment. There, all the army training conflicted with the muscles set of a swimmer. He went downhill after that and never recovered.

Back then, Ang Peng Siong was Singapore best hope, but NS practically killed his sports career.

Back then, Fandi Ahmad only served 3 months BMT at Nee soon camp and finished his NS playing football day in day out for SAFSA Football Club. What say u?
