<!-- START OF : div id="storytext"--><!-- more than 4 paragraphs -->MY MOTHER lost her cellphone with her prepaid card inside last Thursday. As she just had a spine operation three months ago and cannot walk long distances, I went to the Causeway Point M1 shop with her identity card and mine, to cancel her card.
But I was told my mother had to come herself to cancel the card. Otherwise, she would have to fax her medical report.
As we do not have a fax machine, my mother took a bus and went to the shop the next day, despite her aching back. But at the counter, the assistant refused to help her cancel her card, saying prepaid cards did not need to be cancelled - the value would run out eventually. Embarrassed and clueless, my mother walked away.
When I heard about this, I was appalled. As I understand it, all prepaid cards must be registered because they could be used for illegal or terrorist activities. What if someone with ill intent had picked up my mother's card?
I made a complaint to the M1 hotline yesterday morning, after which someone called my mother to say the card would be cancelled as an 'exception', without even a word of apology.
I do not understand why a big and reputable company has staff who are sorely lacking in logic, manners and service attitude.
