It really depends on who you are speaking to. You can better relate to the low class old farts and ah bengs / ah lians when you talk to them in Singlish. But when dealing with educated and professional people, you talk to them in proper English with proper diction and pronunciation. I can switch from Singlish to proper English with ease.
