LTA should open up taxi licences to PRs and foreigners and such diva attitude will no longer persist. PRCs are the best, we should start there, see how they have covered the manpower requirements of SBS with great effect.
I will forward my proposal to Baey Yam Keng, I'm sure Tampines and Bedok residents don't wish to put up with cheebye attitude from cabbies

Cabbies unhappy about passengers who go short distances

Should there be a separate taxi queue at Changi Airport for those who travel shorter destinations?
A Facebook post by Tampines MP Baey Yam Keng has kicked off a discussion on whether the separate queue will be effective for drivers and passengers, The Sunday Times reported today.
In his Facebook post, Mr Baey said that he has heard of such stories where people hopped onto cabs at Changi Airport and were greeted frostily by cabbies.
He commented that these cabbies think the passengers who are going to destinations near the airport are not worth the time and effort spent queuing for.
The report added that some of these cabbies may wait for as long as two hours for a passenger at the airport.
It gave the example that a one-way trip to Tampines would cost about $10 while a trip to Orchard would cost double that amount.
Explaining the reason for the post, Mr Baey said on Facebook that a Tampines resident had suggested a separate queue for people with destinations that are nearer.
Cabbies who are interested in making shorter trips can then do so and there will not be unhappiness between the cabby and the passenger.
Under the Land Transport Authority's requirements, cabbies are not allowed to choose or reject their passengers, Changi Airport Group said.
The Group added that a separate queue has been considered but the current arrangement is more efficient due to space constraints.
