Okay I'm old. Wish somebody will start a small business setting up a sound room within a small shop in an old shopping center with old style tube amplifier, medium size speakers and playing old rock vinyls from the 60's and 70's. Sound from these setups are so very very different from the MP3s today. $10 for 4 minutes of the real thing would be a real bargain! Just want to listen one more time the way it was before the sun finally sets.............

Believe me, you do not want to hear the "noise" from Vinyl. In those days, the humans learnt to filter out the noise. Now you play, you can clearly hear it after having gone digital for such a long time.

Nothing is perfect. I just long to feel and hear the "Body" of the original sound on vinyl.

When I could play the guitar as a teen, this was one of my drug of choice.......

Audiophiles swear by it. They spend hundreds of thousands of dollars buying Thorens turntable, tube amplifiers and speakers, scouring old antique shops for vinyl records. When someone invited me to their home and proudly display his set up in the sound room he specially build and to listen to his collections, I would be the last person to thumb down his expensive hobby. Especially in preparation of my visit, he would have switched on his tube pre-amplifier and amplifier one hour earlier to warm it up.

Some people just have too much money they don't know what to do with them.

I have a Tjoeb 99. It is Marantz CD player that has been modified by the addition of valves. So CDs are not as harsh when I play it on this player.

Mine is a Marantz CD player too and yes the transport screwed up about a year later. I went to Sim Lim and replaced the belt and it works fine after that.

I ordered one directly from Holland with a set of spare tubes. I'm not an audiophile that's why I wasn't willing to pay the prices being charged at Adelphi:o
I couldn't justify spending so much on something like a Mcintosh, even though I had the $$$ & had a good job. Looking back I have no regrets it since I eventually moved to a smaller place.

Nowadays I'm more likely to listen to my iPod than my Hi Fi .

No problem for me with my Marantz CD 5400.. Bought it years back at Alpha Audio.. I also have the Cambridge Audio Azur 340C CD player.. No regrets at all with these 2 players.. Thinkin of replacing my Wharfedale speakers.. Yet to decide whether to change them with Monitor Audio or Mission..

Very true.. I converted one of the spare rooms for all my Hi Fi set..I bought a thick carpet, did the room curtains.. Still searching for the best way to get a really satisfying sound out of my set..

Got a pair of Sennheiser 600 headphones but don't like to use them. Prefer to listen through my Jamo floor stands or Monitor Audio Speakers.

the 600 needs a headamp if u connect to ipod....................it'll be light-years ahead of your speakers

I plug my iPod either into my HiFi system or an ancient Atlantic Technology Pattern 100 system. I've got 3 Jamo Concert 11 speakers for my front & 2 Monitor Audio Gold speakers I'm using for my rear speakers. The reason I have so many speakers was because I was using Hi Fi speakers to build a Dolby Digital 5.1 setup.

By itself the speakers are very decent & I'm not so sure that the Sennheisers would blow them away :)

Get the Monitor Audio GX100 for standmount or GX300 for floorstanding from Precision Audio.
Let them run in for 3 months and you will never want any other speakers again.

My set up:

Monitor Audio GX100 standmount speakers
Cayin CD17A Vacuum Tube CD Player
Music Infinity M01A Vacuum Tube Amp
Custom made psydo balance interconnect
Audio Spec Speaker Cables
