bringing back memories to all the boomers here..

Sorry, not yet born at that time. But I would love to time travel back to the 1960s and 1970s, back when it was less congested, less tall buildings, more unspoiled nature, and the high standards inherited from the Brit colonial masters were not yet fully wiped out.

My parents, who were PMEs, bought 2 landed homes in the late 1960s and early 70s. I cannot imagine a couple who are graduates being able to afford that these days in the most expensive city in the world.

Don't you know that the wealthy in SG pay the most direct and indirect taxes? Why do you think that the rich are PAP supporters? The Mafia in White extract the most $$$ from private property and car owners who earn big bucks.

I do know the MIW squeeze the most from middle & upper middle income. They super rich like themselves benefitted from having fat savings despite paying the same COE or same percentage of property tax.

Why do you think the PAP carved out and separated Holland and Bukit Timah residents into Tanjong Pagar, Holland/Bukit Timah and Jurong GRC in past GEs? It is because many of the wealthy constituents voted against the PAP. These are professionals, business owners and captains of industry in the private sector who were disgruntled with the MIW and their Mafia-like tactics of forcing the rich to pay their dues.

The average debt per adult is S$72,831

Debt is money that is owed to another party. It could be in the form of mortgage loans, car loans, credit card debts, or others (e.g., personal loans and education loans).

Mortgages typically account for the bulk of household debt because of their larger quanta and the fact that everyone needs a roof over their head.

Debt per adult has increased from US$26,598 (S$35,907) in 2000 to US$53,949 (S$72,831) in 2022, a significant increase of 103%.

While there are many factors at play in this increase in debt, one possible reason could be rising property prices, especially in the private sector, which have been on an upward trend throughout the decades.

As you can see, the US1M to $5M are just pisai & struggling to keep afloat seeing dwindling in the savings die to paying same amount of COE & percentage of property tax.

If chinks don't cheat, will never get rich.
Who did your parents scam?

Chinese people believe in using our brains, propensity for hard work and entrepreneurial spirit to build wealth. We do not resort to stealing, bribery and expecting handouts like Malays north of the Causeway resort to; your people are both dishonest and lazy. The truth hurts, doesn't it?

Yes cheating scamming and double dealing is hard work.
Malays never needed handouts or help but cheating and double dealing came from kafir pendatangs and introduced 'help' and 'handouts'.
