SINGAPORE: A motorist who tried to bribe a Land Transport Authority (LTA) marshal had been charged with corruption on Thursday.
According to the Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau (CPIB), 33-year-old Ng Kok Chye had stopped his vehicle on the road shoulder of the Kallang-Paya Lebar Expressway in October last year.
An LTA marshal who spotted him conducted a check and suspected that Ng was driving under the influence of alcohol.
The marshal called the Traffic Police for assistance to conduct a breath analyser test.
It was while they were waiting that Ng allegedly approached Constable S. Harie Krishna with S$100, pleading for a second chance. The constable rejected his offer and Ng was subsequently arrested for corruption.
The Traffic Police would also be prosecuting Ng for allowing his vehicle to remain at rest on the road shoulder of an expressway.
