SINGAPORE - The Ministry of Health said on Saturday (Jan 4) that it had been notified of the first suspected case of the mystery Wuhan virus here, involving a three-year-old girl from China who had pneumonia and a travel history to the Chinese city of Wuhan.
She has been warded for further assessment and treatment, and isolated as a precautionary measure, said the Ministry.
She was in stable condition, and preliminary tests showed that the case was positive for Respiratory Syncytial Virus, a common cause of childhood pneumonia, it added.
Investigations are ongoing to confirm this as the cause.
MOH noted that the girl had not visited the Huanan seafood wholesale market in Wuhan associated with the cluster of pneumonia cases.
