A most unusual development in NBG's case. For such a high profile case, one would have expected AGC to have dilligently done all their homework. Don't quite understand why AGC would need to take so long to come back on a simple clarification which would appear to be fundamental to the case.

SINGAPORE: Former CNB chief Ng Boon Gay, who was charged with four counts of corruption, was back in court on Tuesday for a hearing.

Ng allegedly obtained sexual favours from Sue, a sales manager with Oracle Corporation Singapore and formerly Hitachi Data Systems.

Ng's lawyer, Mr Tan Chee Meng, said that it was still "premature to claim trial" as the details of the case were "not available as yet".

Mr Tan had previously sought to clarify how Ng's alleged offences had advanced the business of Cecilia Sue Siew Nang, but said on Tuesday that he "had not received all the information".

He added that the case would be clearer in three weeks' time.

Ng's lawyers said they are in communications with the Attorney-General's Chambers on their requests for further particulars of the charges.

Pending a decision on this matter, they said it is not appropriate for them to comment further at this juncture.

Ng turned up in court with about six people, including his wife, his sister and several supporters.

When asked by the judge if he had anything to say, he replied, "Nothing".

He will be back in court for a pre-trial conference on 19 July.

Even if the corruption cannot yet be confirmed, can the sex be confirmed?

In their enthusiasm when they discovered that the two fellas had coveted the same women, investigators leaped to conclusions that NBG had jumped into bed for the same reason. The crux of his defence rests on one premise - that the companies that Sue worked for had never, and not expected to do business with the drug agency. It was a clear case of personal indiscretion and inability to control certain extensions between his legs.

One suspects that there is more than meets the eye on this one - which is why he boldly proclaimed that he had at all times acted professionally.

if cannot prove corruption, then sex or not is immaterial right?

He didn't deny that sex took place. He claims that while it was a personal indiscretion, he didn't help Cecilia Sue financially in any way.

there isn't any corruption- he merely checked her body orifice for any hidden drugs.

Oh good. That would mean that his wife will probably refrain from making any more statements to the press to try and influence the public.

Haven't heard from the former SCDF chief Peter Lim for a while. He looked all set to plead guility. Then suddenly his lawyer started asking the same questions as NBG's lawyer.

With these developments, you got to wonder if this has anything to do with the sudden departure of the old AGC. According to Bro Scroo, Sundaresh Menon is a legal titan. Perhaps he "run road" because of cases like this:

http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/singaporelocalnews/view/1204725/1/.html

SINGAPORE: Singapore's Attorney-General Sundaresh Menon will be a Judge of Appeal of the Supreme Court from 1 August.

High Court Judge Steven Chong Horng Siong will be the new Attorney-General from 25 June for a period of two years.

The Prime Minister's Office (PMO) on Thursday announced the appointments made by President Tony Tan Keng Yam.

It said Mr Menon, 50, and Justice Chong, 54, will relinquish their current appointments from 25 June.

Mr Menon will be on private leave until 31 July.

Senior Counsel Vinodh Sabesan Coomaraswamy will be a Judicial Commissioner from 1 August for a period of one year.

Mr Vinodh, 47, is also a Partner at Shook Lin & Bok LLP.

PMO said President Tony Tan decided on the appointments with advice from Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.
