Judge threw out application to have them acquitted.
Trial to continue.
Their defence lawyers had claimed the prosecution had not done enough to show there was a case against the accused, and called on Chief District Judge See Kee Oon to throw out all of the charges.
But on Monday, the judge rejected this, saying that there was enough evidence for the trial to continue with all of the charges intact. "In my view there is evidence to show that the investments were shams... and were merely disguises for something else," he said.
He was referring to several bond transactions which the prosecution believes were illegal and a way for the accused to misuse church funds. About $50 million is alleged to have been illegally used in various sham transactions to finance Kong's wife Ho Yeow Sun's pop music career and to cover this up.

The thread is misleading, lah. They are not guilty yet. The honourable intelligent judge only said the prosecution had made out a prima facie case for the accused to answer to the charges.

Not necessary to go to jail if plea bargaining is made with prosecution, may be just a fine imposed if she knows how to co-operate. To co-operate or to fight to save someone else's arse?

What sort of "plea bargaining" and "co-operation" would sway the judge leh? Given that this is a serious case with possibly 6 years jail, Serina better "give everything she has" and tell the judge she'll "do anything" to stay out of jail.

Any one with common sense can see that when funds were collected for church building project, the funds should be used strictly for that project. When the funds were used for other purposes, the funds were then collected under false pretences and a case of CBT could stand.
