SINGAPORE - Former National Solidarity Party Secretary-General Mr Goh Meng Seng was stripped naked by Hougang residents last Sunday after the conclusion of a by-election which saw the Worker's Party retain its Hougang seat.
Residents of Hougang SMC dragged the screaming political commentator aboard a perambulator, stripped him, and paraded him round the constituency in his birthday suit for three hours, chanting slogans like "this analyst hath no clothes".
Speaking on condition of anonymity to the press, a female resident said that she and other residents had endured months of shoddy political analysis by Mr Goh, who boldly predicted that WP's winning margin might narrow to as low as 10%, or that massive ground discontent has swelled up against WP.
She explained that the purpose of parading a naked Mr Goh round the constituency was to show that "the emperor had no clothes".
"He thinks himself as a king of political analysis, so the analogy is quite fitting," she added.
Mr Goh was not available for comment at press time. Sources claim he secretly enjoyed the attention.
