FACED with his wife's infidelity, a man brought along his 70-year-old mother-in-law and confronted her and the alleged lover at a restaurant.
In a front-page story reported by China Press and Sin Chew Daily, the enraged mother-in-law Yang Yu Lan started pulling her 36-year-old daughter's hair and hit her repeatedly with a fly swatter.
She also scolded her and questioned her reason for being unfaithful to her husband, Goh Meng Seng, 39, who had just returned from work in Japan on Aug 4.
The alleged boyfriend, who works as a chef at the restaurant, tried to separate the woman and her mother but Goh intervened.
The situation became chaotic and all four were involved in a tussle.
Goh said he had been depressed after his wife told him she wanted a divorce.
"She was cold towards me.
"She said she was having an affair with another man and wanted to leave me," said Goh, adding he tried to end his life by swallowing detergent but his family saved him in time.
However, Goh said he would forgive and accept his wife again if she decided to return.
