THAILAND'S social media has been ablaze over the weekend with a picture of a Chinese tourist's underwear drying on a chair at Chiang Mai International Airport, with many slamming the woman for her conduct.
The photo shows a pink bra and a pair of black panties draped over the back of a chair at the airport.
Pornchai Jitnavasathien, president of the Chiang Mai Tourism Business Association, said it was the first incident of its kind, and added that the association would ask travel agents and Thai guides to explain to their Chinese clients that such behaviour could tarnish the image of Chinese tourists, reported the Bangkok Post.
The airport's public relations officer told the paper that the incident occurred about two weeks ago, and that the woman was likely waiting to catch a flight back to China.
The officer said such activities are commonplace and that the woman was told to stow her underwear, but no further action was taken as it was not illegal nor did it pose a safety risk.
