Brazen burglar swings chain at house owners

The Tans were at home when a man tried to break into their How Sun Walk house around 11.30pm on March 17.
The owner, a housewife who wanted to be known only as Mrs Tan, said her daughter was watching TV on the ground floor when she heard the man banging on the glass doors.
Her daughter was stunned and called her parents for help.
The man escaped but returned to try his luck with their neighbour's home, which is undergoing renovation.
When confronted by her son, the man lashed out with a bicycle chain.
Mrs Tan said they decided not to chase him after realising that he was an old man.
