Clean, fresh start
'Thank you PM Lee. You are a man of your word.'
MR ANAND VATHIYAR: 'If I was moved when Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong apologised during the General Election, I am absolutely over the moon now with the new Cabinet line-up. It is the strongest indication that he wants a clean, fresh start for Singapore. Thank you, PM Lee. You are a man of your word and you have me firmly in your corner now.'
People's voice heard
'Let us give PM Lee and his new team time to work on the issues.'
MR JEFFREY TAN: 'The 2011 General Election was an awakening for the Government and the People's Action Party. Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong had his ear to the ground and promised during the campaign that he would seriously look into the concerns raised by people. He has done it. Let us give PM Lee and his new team time to work on the issues. I salute the PM for walking the talk and wish his team success.'
The new agenda
'It means more than rolling out new policies or doling out money - the key is real tangible benefits on the ground.'
MR PETER LOON: 'What the new Cabinet needs to do is show that it is listening to the people's concerns. It means more than rolling out new policies or doling out money - the key is real tangible benefits on the ground, in terms of travel time, the cost of a meal, and the monthly outlay to pay a housing loan. The new ministers also need to be seen on the ground, which means taking the buses and trains at rush hour, joining the queues for taxis, and visiting overcrowded hawker centres and shopping centres. We want leaders who are seen to be caring for Singaporeans. We want the assurance that they have the interest of Singaporeans at heart.'
Sweeping changes
'A reflection of the people's wishes and aspirations.'
MR BENNIE CHEOK: 'The sweeping changes made by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong in his new Cabinet line-up is a reflection of the people's wishes and aspirations. It is time to close ranks and rally behind PM Lee as the new Government embarks on the tasks and challenges ahead for the betterment of the people.'
