Residents of Boon Keng might have had the pleasure of meeting this unusual uncle at Boon Keng.
According to a Shin Min Daily News report, the man is a regular sight at street corners in Boon Keng.
Despite being all skin and bones, the man is well-known for refusing gifts from concerned members of the public.
What little money he has on hand he is also known for donating to others.
He is often seen rummaging through rubbish bins, and sometimes visits the nearby hawker centre for his spartan meals.
Contrasting sharply with his ragged appearance, unkempt hair and perceptible odor, he appears cheery and talkative when approached.
Shin Min reporters found that he is not homeless, having a place to stay in Boon Keng, and while he is not currently employed, he does have savings to live on.

boon keng is a fucking slum....my god.....swear to god boon keng reminds me of one of those roadside markets and pasar malam u find in thailand and malaysia....flooded with the poorest garbage from tiongland and bangraland....

just like east coast is the land of the millionaires,boon keng is the ghetto slum of singapore.

i believe when singapore was a fishing village,boon keng was a uninhabitable swamp and wasteland where even the birds and monkeys avoid.

Boon Keng near to Kolam Ayer was a huge dirty River I still remember that place.
while going there for my MATC cadet marching every Saturday, had roti prata for 10cts
during that time!! Mata cheng teh koh!
